Volleyball Spikes Records

All three Trojan girls volleyball teams worked hard to improve their skills and achieve higher overall records in the 2022 season.
This year, the PHS varsity team made the silver bracket division for the first time in both tournaments they competed in. “Our record was better this season, we finished in fifth place, and I would say that we were more competitive with every team we played,” said Coach Amy Schwappach. Schwappach also said a season highlight was winning against Casa Grande at both home games and away.
“This season was definitely a roller coaster,” said captain and MVP Ava Staub, senior, “but we all enjoyed the opportunity to grow and learn as a team. Especially as seniors, we are thankful for the season we got to have.”
Over the course of the season, the freshman team also became stronger and advanced into more complex plays. “The biggest challenge this season was that we had young players that got starting roles, so there was a lot of pressure on them to perform,” said Schwappach.
While this season was successful, Schwappach stated that she is already looking forward to future seasons. “I'm looking forward to improving our record, as some of our younger players start to get even more experienced, and I'm looking forward to our team getting better and better and competing at a higher level each season in the future,” Schwappach said.
