Meet the New Coaches of PHS

Petaluma sports are back in full swing, with many new faces on the coaching staff.

The girls golf team is now led by Nolan Lowry. Lowry started playing golf as a sophomore at Redwood High and continued while at the University of California, Davis. “I've always had a passion for helping the youth learn and improve their skills, learn to compete with respect for sportsmanship and the spirit of the game,” said Lowry.

When the coaching position was announced, his daughter Kenna Lowry, senior, said she would play if he coached, encouraging him to apply.

Lowry hopes to create a positive environment for the team while maintaining a nature of competition at the same time.

Johann Gerlach was last year’s wrestling assistant coach and has been promoted after head coach Paul Schlosser took a new position in Sonoma. After wrestling at Santa Rosa Junior College, he attended the University of New Mexico and was placed on the wrestling team.

Gerlach is not just trying to create a dominant wrestling team, but also raise great young leaders in the community. “In my opinion the wins and losses will appear naturally with passion and positive energy and effort in this sport. I'm focused on doing all I can to help create great people,” said Gerlach.

He is extremely excited to see the team grow and develop and is confident that they will find success.

Junior varsity volleyball is also now being led by new coach Tessa Lea’ea.
