Author Adam Silvera visited Petaluma’s Copperfield’s on Oct. 11 as part of his international tour, set with the intention of advertising his new novel “The First To Die At The End,” a prequel to the bestseller “They Both Die At The End.”
“They Both Die At The End” became an internet sensation when it blew up on “BookTok,” a side of Tik-Tok run by avid readers, in mid-2020. Millions of people were raving about the heavy emotional toll that Silvera’s writing had on them and how much they recommended it to others. When he finally announced his new book and tour, fans were absolutely thrilled.
As a result, Silvera’s visit ended up doing a lot more than informing people of just the new release. Parker Jennings, senior, experienced this first hand. “I found out he had like eight other books,” Jennings said. “I was interested and wanted to see his works that focused less on tragedy.”
While Petaluma’s Copperfields is no stranger to famous authors, Silvera drew out a large and enthusiastic crowd. About 100 people attended the event, eager to hear the process behind the novel and to get their own copies signed.
He continued his tour afterwards to several other countries such as France and England, greeting thousands of fans and expanding his reach globally.
